WELCOME TO OUR BRANCH OF THE PONY CLUB
Welcome to the Old Surrey
and Burstow Hunt Branch of the Pony Club. This branch first
began in 1930 and was one of the founding branches of the Pony
Club.
We are an active branch with
over 152 current members. We offer the following disciplines:
Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping, Polo, Mounted Games,
Endurance, Tetrathlon, Horse and Pony Care and Racing. You are
welcome to attend the rallies for each discipline even if you
have never done them before. The organiser will be able to
explain about the discipline and tell you what to do.
We run two Camps. A 2 day
Mini Camp for 8-10yr olds at Carewell Farm, and a 5 day Junior
Camp for 11-17yrs, camping at Littleton Manor Equestrian Centre,
details for these are on our website.
We produce a programme of
activities for each holiday and this will be emailed out to you.
You need to book in for the activity you would like to take part
in, either by telephoning the organiser or by sending in a
Booking Form. In each holiday you will have the opportunity to
attend a Working Rally, that is an instructional group lesson.
Our instructors Jean and Susie will make sure you are in a group
to match your ability. The dress at rallies is: riding hat, long
sleeved white or pale blue shirt, Pony Club tie, navy OS&B
sweatshirt, tan or cream jodphurs, brown or black jodhpur boots
and jodhpur boots. Please tie long hair back, and if needed wear
a hair net to keep it tidy.
An important book is The
Manual of Horsemanship. It can be ordered on line from the Pony
Club Shop at
http://www.pcuk.org. You can also buy discipline rule books
from there. The sweatshirts and cross country shirts are
available from Rowena Moore, she will attend rallies where
you can buy them from her or contact her on: 07715 376787 or by
email:
rcmoore@btconnect.com Rowena will not always bring all stock
along, so please contact her in advance if you wish to purchase
something. A complete list of stock is available here.
If you would like to talk to
someone about our branch you can telephone Margaret Allday who
is the Membership Secretary on 01825 740435. New members can
find the membership form
here.
I hope you enjoy being a
member of our branch. It is a very friendly branch and you will
quickly make friends and get to know people. I hope to see you
and your pony at one of the activities very soon.
